Website scan
Scan your public website to discover the third-party tools that collect data from your visitors, such as chat, analytics, marketing and advertising.
Your website often sends visitor data to more third parties than anyone realizes: chat, analytics, CRM, marketing and advertising tools added over the years. Website scanning continuously discovers these customer-facing systems, so they're included in your inventory, your data flows and your consent management.
Why scan your website
- Find customer-facing systems. Tools on your website often collect customer data directly, and many require visitors' consent before they run. MineOS can manage that consent for you. See Consent management.
- See where visitor data goes. Website scanning detects where each tool sends data, so you can add it to your data flows, understand transfers, and spot when privacy rules apply. See Visualize data flows.
Website scanning covers a specific use case, your customer-facing tools, so we recommend combining it with at least one other discovery method, such as email or SSO. See Discover your data sources with Radar.
Before you start
You'll need the URL of each website you want to scan. The websites must be publicly accessible.
Set up a website scan
Websites are scanned from Consent management, where you add the domains you want MineOS to scan. The same websites are used for your consent banner, so you only set them up once.
- Sign in to MineOS.
- In the left navigation, under Data mapping, select Radar.
- Click Radar Setup.
- Under Website Scan, click Website domains. This opens Consent management: Websites.
- Click + Add website and give it a name, or open an existing website.
- Add the domains you want to scan. [confirm label]
Enter each domain as a full domain name, such as www.example.com. Wildcard domains, such as *.example.com, can't be scanned. Add each subdomain you want scanned separately.
MineOS scans all publicly accessible pages of each domain and detects the third-party providers integrated into them. Each domain is rescanned automatically every month, and you can also start a scan manually.
Permissions
None. The scan runs externally, on the publicly accessible pages of your website, so MineOS doesn't need access to any of your accounts.
What happens next
Discovered tools appear in Radar. Add the ones your organization uses to your inventory, so they're included in your processing activities and data flows. See Reviewing findings.
