Automate data classification by integrating MineOS with Oracle

How It Works

MineOS connects to your Oracle database with the user in your connection string and scans every table that user is authorized to access, classifying the personal data stored in them.

Note: This article covers data classification. Setting up Oracle for privacy requests is covered in the Oracle DSR integration article.

Before You Start

  • Create a database user for MineOS and grant it access to the schemas and tables you want to scan. MineOS scans every table this user can access.
  • MineOS must be able to reach your Oracle database. Whitelist the MineOS IPs in your inbound network rules (IP & Email Whitelisting), or, if your database isn't publicly accessible, connect through a VPN tunnel.
  • [Optional] Enable Preview mode to view sample PII values alongside classification results. You must enable Preview mode before running the scan.

Setting Up

  1. Log in to MineOS. On the left sidebar, click Inventory → Data Sources. Click Add Data Source, search for Oracle and click Add.
  2. Open the Oracle data source → Integrations tab → Request Handling section → select Integration.
  3. Paste your database connection string.
  4. Mark the Scan this source using Data Classifier checkbox.
  5. Click Test & Save. The connection succeeds when MineOS connects to the database and runs a test query.

You're done! MineOS has been connected to your Oracle database.
