Automate data classification by integrating MineOS with Domo

How It Works

MineOS connects to your Domo instance, finds the files uploaded to it, exports them as CSV and classifies the personal data they contain. The results are added to the data types of the Domo data source.

MineOS uses two types of Domo authentication:

  • Full authentication, to search your data sources for uploaded files.
  • Developer authentication, to export the files it finds in CSV format for scanning.

Note: This integration supports data classification only.

Before You Start

  • Make sure you have enough permissions to create users, roles and API clients in your Domo account.
  • [Optional] Enable Preview mode to view sample PII values alongside classification results. You must enable Preview mode before running the scan.

Setting Up

Step 1: Create a user and role for MineOS in Domo

  1. In your Domo domain, open the Admin dashboard.
  2. In the Governance pane, add a new role and a new user with that role for MineOS. Copy the user's Username and Password.
  3. Allow the role to export DataSets by granting it Export DataSet.
  4. Allow the user to view your DataSets, either:
    • by granting the role Manage DataSet, which lets it view all DataSets, or
    • by sharing each relevant DataSet with the user from your Data dashboard.

Step 2: Create client credentials

  1. Open your Domo client manager.
  2. Create a new client for MineOS and select the Data scope.
  3. Copy the Client Id and Client Secret.

Step 3: Connect in MineOS

  1. Log in to MineOS. On the left sidebar, click Inventory → Data Sources. Click Add Data Source, search for Domo and click Add.
  2. Open the Domo data source → Integrations tab → Request Handling section → select Integration.
  3. Fill in the integration fields:
    • The user's password and the client secret, in the format Password;ClientSecret
    • Client Id
    • Username
    • Your Domo domain
  4. Mark the Scan this source using Data Classifier checkbox.
  5. Click Test & Save.

You're done! MineOS has been connected to your Domo instance.

Note: MineOS can only scan the DataSets the Domo user has access to, so make sure you've granted the user access to all relevant data.
