Automate data classification by integrating MineOS with Dropbox

How It Works

MineOS connects to your Dropbox for Business account and scans the files stored there to detect the types of personal data they contain.

Note: This integration supports data classification only.

Before You Start

  • You need a Dropbox for Business admin account.
  • [Optional] Enable Preview mode to view sample PII values alongside classification results. You must enable Preview mode before running the scan.

Setting Up

  1. Log in to MineOS. On the left sidebar, click Inventory → Data Sources. Click Add Data Source, search for Dropbox and click Add.
  2. Open the Dropbox data source → Integrations tab → Request Handling section → select Integration.
  3. Click Connect and follow the Dropbox authorization process.
  4. After authorizing, make sure the Scan this source using Data Classifier checkbox is marked, then click Save.

You're done! MineOS has been connected to your Dropbox account.

Good to Know

  • Links to the files where MineOS found personal data follow Dropbox permissions. If you don't have access to a file in Dropbox, you won't be able to open its link.
  • Compressed files (gzip) aren't currently supported.
