Automate data classification by integrating MineOS with Smartsheet

How It Works

MineOS connects to your Smartsheet account with an API key and runs a classification scan to find personal data in your sheets.

Note: Data classification covers sheet cells. Attachments and comments aren't scanned.

Note: This integration supports data classification only.

Before You Start

• Make sure you have permission to create an API key in Smartsheet.
• Find out which Smartsheet platform your account is on: the default platform, Smartsheet Gov or Smartsheet Europe.
• [Optional] Enable Preview mode to view sample PII values alongside classification results. You must enable Preview mode before running the scan.

Setting Up

1. Generate an API key in Smartsheet, following Smartsheet's guide to generating API access tokens.
2. Log in to MineOS. On the left sidebar, click Inventory → Data Sources. Click Add Data Source, search for Smartsheet and click Add.
3. Open the Smartsheet data source → Integrations tab → Request Handling section → select Integration, and mark Scan this source using Data Classifier.
4. Fill in the API Key.
5. If your account isn't on the default platform, set the platform to Gov or Europe.
6. Click Test your integration to check that the API key and platform work.
7. Click Test & Save.

You're done! MineOS has been connected to your Smartsheet account.

To run a scan, click Start Scan, set the confidence level and click Start Scan again. The scan takes a few minutes, and the results appear when it's done.
