This integration automates privacy requests for Mixpanel. MineOS looks up the Mixpanel user profile that matches the requester's email address or distinct ID, then lets you preview, delete or copy it.

To scan Mixpanel for personal data, see Mixpanel data classification integration.

How It Works

  • Preview: before MineOS deletes or copies anything, you can preview the profile it found for the requester.
  • Delete: MineOS schedules a GDPR deletion task in Mixpanel for the requester. Mixpanel processes deletions in the background, and the task can take up to 30 days to complete.
  • Get a copy: MineOS sends the requester a copy of their Mixpanel profile properties.

Before You Start

  • You need an owner or admin account for the Mixpanel project you want to connect.

Setting Up

The steps below are the same for both types. In step 3 of Step 2, choose Mixpanel (User ID) instead of Mixpanel if your requests identify users by distinct ID.

Step 1: Get your Mixpanel keys

MineOS needs three keys:

  1. Log in to Mixpanel. Click Settings in the top right corner → your name → Data & Privacy.
  2. Under GDPR API, click Generate to create an API token, and copy the OAuth Token for GDPR APIs.
  3. In your personal settings, go to Projects and select the project you want to connect.
  4. Copy the project's Token and API Secret.

Step 2: Connect in MineOS

  1. Log in to MineOS. On the left sidebar, click Inventory → Add data source, search for Mixpanel and add it.
  2. Open the Mixpanel system and go to the DSR & integrations tab. If the system already has an instance, click Add instance.
  3. Under Action for fulfilling requests, select Integration. In the Integration Type dropdown, select Mixpanel, then click Set up integration.
  4. In the setup wizard, paste the keys into their fields:
    • GDPR API OAuth Token
    • Project's token
    • Project's API secret
  5. Click Test your integration so MineOS can verify the keys.

Click Finish. You're done! MineOS has been connected to your Mixpanel project.

Using the Integration in Requests

To handle requests automatically, add the Mixpanel integration to the workflows of the privacy rights it should handle, such as deletion or get a copy.
