Stripe data classification integration
Automate data classification by integrating MineOS with Stripe.
Draft note (remove before publishing)Based on the HubSpot article "Stripe Integration" (classification parts only), updated to the current setup labels. Confirm that Read access is enough for classification-only setups (the HubSpot article sets Customers to Write, which is needed for deletion requests), and that customers should copy the live key rather than the test key mentioned in the HubSpot article. Add screenshots of the Stripe restricted key settings and the MineOS integration form.
Automate data classification by integrating MineOS with Stripe
How It Works
MineOS connects to your Stripe account with a restricted API key and scans your customers, charges, disputes and files to detect the personal data they contain.
Note: MineOS doesn't scan guest data. Stripe creates guest records automatically when customer contact information isn't saved, so they aren't customer records.
Note: This article covers data classification. Setting up Stripe for privacy requests is covered in the Stripe DSR integration article.
Before You Start
- You need a Stripe account with administrator permissions.
- [Optional] Enable Preview mode to view sample PII values alongside classification results. You must enable Preview mode before running the scan.
Setting Up
Step 1: Create a restricted key in Stripe
- Log in to Stripe. On your dashboard, click Developers, then API keys in the sidebar.
- Click Create restricted key and name it, for example
MineOS Key. - Set Customers, Charges, Disputes and Files to Read. If you'll also use Stripe for deletion requests, set Customers to Write.
- At the bottom of the page, click Create key.
- Under Restricted keys, reveal the new key and copy it.
Step 2: Connect in MineOS
- Log in to MineOS. On the left sidebar, click Inventory → Data Sources. Click Add Data Source, search for Stripe and click Add.
- Open the Stripe data source → Integrations tab → Request Handling section → select Integration.
- Paste the API key.
